Continuing tradition

By on January 13th, 2017

As with the past few holiday seasons I have ventured out on Christmas Day to photograph.

My initial idea got rained out, but further down the road I remembered another spot that

warranted my attention. Here are a few from that day. Enjoy.

The Up and Up

By on December 14th, 2016

With a new career staring and life progressing I have put my blog on the backburner, however photography has remained on the forefront of my daily ventures. I finally have a minute to pause to select a few images to showcase what I’ve been doing – discovering that I am still refining what I see and how it is recorded. There are some portrait ideas on the tip of my mind that still need to make it to fruition, working on this.

I’ve also learned a valuable lesson, when going to a show ALWAYS bring a camera. Nothing like a photographer getting caught with their pants down! Recently through a series of serendipitous events I was given the opportunity to photograph and meet the band members of Peter Hook and the Light ( they cover two of my favorite bands Joy Division and New Order), but I had neglected to bring my normal tools and was left with only the camera on my cell phone – the best camera is the one you have with you. Absolutely. The image below is from that show and taken with the camera on my iPhone SE.

2016 I felt was a year of pause. Now I need to go forward. My creative energies are also being diverted to my recent interest in poetry, more on that later…

Cheers and happy, safe holidays for all.

With a recent shift change to midnights, I decided to bring a camera to accompany me during the hours of the night. The following images are around my workplace taken between the times of 2:30am to 6:15am. I am drawn to light and shape, contour and composition. All of which form my night. Enjoy.

Lego Disney

By on June 3rd, 2016

Lego has introduced a new Lego minifig series based on Disney characters, brilliant idea! Took an opportunity with a spontaneous idea to photograph this one. I have some other ideas for further exploring this series… I predict a Cheshire cat next.  Enjoy!

My admiration and commitment to film photography has grown once again. I am now utilizing a new tool to apply different concepts and further refine my vision. The Mamiya RZ67 has been regarded as one of the best professional camera systems of it’s day and even still today in the wake of digital photography. I have adopted this new system because of some very inspirational work that I have seen being produced, and I hope this will kick-start some new ideas for myself and even provide me with some confidence when approaching my portrait project.  With just a few rolls under my belt using this camera and lens (110mm) I have already begun to see a positive change. Here is my progress thus far. Enjoy.

Poetry and Imagery

Can become masterful accidents

Or benign predictions

Or slop

And show a haughty face

In any space

or time

As long as what was meant to happen

Is truthful

Or faithful

So often ideas offer us the greater notion

That it matters
